CHEROKEE SOUTH WEST TOWNSHIP (CSWT) GRANT FUND
The CSWT Grant Fund has been established to support educational needs of CSWT members. It is awarded on as needed bases to one or more members based on the availability of funding and the applications received.

CSWT Grant Fund Selection Committee (GFSC):
The Grant Fund Selection Committee will consist of at least one CSWT council member and two members/subscribers. The selection committee will oversee the application review and award process. The GFSC will meet quarterly to review submitted applications. The Selection Committee shall meet at least once annually to review the Grant process and requirements.
Miscellaneous Information:
Cherokee South West Township reserves the right to use the name and/or photograph of scholarship award recipients in the CSWT newsletter and promotional materials.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must have Cherokee heritage and a CSWT member or subscriber or the dependent child of a CSWT member or subscriber with at least one year of active membership with the CSWT.
- Applicants must be able to provide proof of enrollment or acceptance in a class or course.
- Applicants may apply, and/or reapply, as needed.
Application Requirements:
- Have completed and submitted the CSWT Grant fund application form.
- Any Major or course of study will be considered that may enhance the individual’s career development and/or benefit the American Indian community.
- Applicants must have Cherokee heritage and be a CSWT member or subscriber or the dependent child of a CSWT member or subscriber with at least one year of active membership with the CSWT.
- Applicants must be able to provide proof of enrollment or acceptance in a class or course.
- Provide one letter of recommendation, not from a family member.
- Transcripts (photocopy is acceptable) if applicable.
- Cost per unit course or item requested as applicable.
- Brief statement (no more than one page) stating educational objectives, career goals, financial need, past and current extracurricular activities and how this grant will help you reach your goals.
- Interviews may be required of Grant finalists.
- All applications and accompanying materials will be retained in the CSWT records.
Grants:
- Grants will be awarded as needed. The amount and number of grants will vary depending on the amount of the grant funds available.
- Grant awards are to be applied towards tuition, class/school fees, books, supplies and/or equipment required for the course(s) and transportation (as applicable).
- Grant award determinations will be based on financial need, personal motivation, educational and career goals, and extracurricular activities. The applicant’s involvement with CSWT and/or American Indian studies will be considered.
- Grant award guidelines will vary from $50.00 to $500.00 per application.
- The CSWT grant fund selection committee will determine the amount to be awarded and the number of applicants to receive awards based upon the application requirements.
